The idea behind In the Zone Sports is to feature the best that Miami-Dade and Broward County high school sports have to offer. With the two counties having so many professional and college sports with the Dolphins, Hurricanes, Marlins, Panthers, Heat and now the addition of an FIU and FAU football team, it is easy to forget that South Florida has some of the best high school student-athletes in the country. The newspapers cannot possibly give high school sports the attention they deserve when big time money makers such as professional and college sports highlight our papers. They only have so much space. That is where In the Zone Sports comes in. We dedicate ourselves solely to the high school student-athlete.
Our goal at In the Zone Sports is to give notoriety and publicity to the high school student-athletes in Dade and Broward and recognize their hard work and achievements, not only on the field of play, but in the classroom as well.
Being a student-athlete is not an easy task, especially for kids. To handle the rigors of school during the day and the long and tiring practices after school, coupled with having to do homework when arriving home, makes their achievements that must more impressive and spectacular; therefore, recognizing them is very important.
If we, at In the Zone Sports, can help just one student-athlete get a full scholarship to college because of their accomplishments by our publication in print and on the net, then we have accomplished something we consider to be very important. Not all student-athletes are superstar athletes, but the lesser-known athletes can also earn scholarships, but no one has ever heard of them for whatever reason.
If we can help that student-athlete because of our work, it not only is a reward to the student-athlete for his/her hard work, but a reward to us because we feel as if we helped make that happen, and that is what our publication is about.
Plain and simply, it’s about making all student-athletes feel like STARS.
